Carers Development Project

Project Aims

Rutland Belle on Rutland Water 2005

Maureen O'Malley - Your local Carers Development Worker.

How the Carers Service can help

The carers service, which is based within the CVS office in Market Harborough, aims is to provide carers with a local contact who can supply them with information, advice and support. They also assist carers to get the help that is available from the Community, Statutory and Voluntary sectors.

Caring at home is a costly business! A carer is someone who, without payment, provides help and support to a relative,
friend or neighbour who because of frailty, illness or disability, is unable to manage without help.

Carers' Forum

Jacqui

Jacqui Mowson - Carers Service Assistant

A Carers Forum has been developed for South Leicestershire, which brings carers together to enjoy each other’s company, and also meet with organisations and individuals who provide support.

Carers are given the opportunity to express their views and be consulted.

Supports and develops local carers support groups, so that carers get time for themselves, both for enjoyment and to care for their own health.

Raises awareness of carers issues in the local community and helps to reduce isolation to carers.

Helps carers to receive allowances and benefits to which they are entitled.

The number of carers registered on our database has increased to 280. If you would like to be included on the database and receive the regular Carers Newsletters and mailings then please contact us.
